Support for young people, families and individuals in a child led and person centred approach, enabling them to flourish.

About me

My name is Becca Brand, I am a qualified secondary school teacher, SENDCo, Autism Peer Support Worker and I am autistic. I have been a teacher since 2006 and have worked as a SENDCo for 4 years. I have always had a passion for SEN and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to reach their full potential. I believe that if a young person doesn’t feel supported or understood then their ability to engage in their learning is affected.

I am experienced in supporting young people with high levels of anxiety, EBSA, SEMH needs and who are neurodivergent. I have previously worked within a Hospital school and Pupil Referral Setting as a SENDCo.

I am passionate about working in a neuro-affirming way, believing in a strengths and rights-based approach to neurodiversity and aim to provide support and adaptations that affirm a person’s neurodivergent identity.

Everyone has the right to understand their own identity and how their brain works best.

I have 3 young children who are either diagnosed or on the pathway for an Autism diagnosis. It has been through ongoing learning,  supporting them and making sure their voices are heard that I have been through the journey myself.

I received my autism diagnosis a few years ago at the age of 40 and I am currently awaiting an ADHD assessment.

As a parent of children that have really struggled to find their place within our school educational system and have their needs recognised and understood, I have been the parent that felt lost within what felt like a complex maze to navigate and unsure which way to turn. My children didn’t ‘fit’ within the mould that teachers and schools expected them to, I was told that my children had to adapt and change who they were but I felt it was not the child that needed to change but the system.

My aim at Neuroblooms is to challenge the systems that expect neurodivergent children and individuals to hide their best bits. I want to empower everyone I work with to be able to advocate for themselves to ensure their voices are heard and important. No one type of brain is superior to another amd we all deserve to have our needs, wants and opinions heard and respected.

Whilst every neurodivergent person is different with their own identity, strengths and challenges, I believe that I have that lived experience and insight due to being autistic, by parenting autistic children, working professionally within and navigating the SEN system.
